Barbara Talbert, Treasurer

Barbara was one of the original founders of Ashland At Home, but resigned from the Board when a temporary assignment managing Jackson County Animal Services became a full-time, permanent job that lasted almost 8 years. After retiring, she re-engaged with Ashland At Home as a Board member and volunteer. She also spends time volunteering with the Lend Me A Plate program at the Ashland Recycling Center and as a Neighborhood Coordinator for the Ashland Food Project. Previously, Barbara managed continuing education programs at SOU for 15 years, which included oversight of Elderhostel and Southern Oregon Learning in Retirement programs. She earned a BS degree from Stanford University and an MBA from Portland State University. Barbara has lived in Ashland since 1992 and shares a home with her husband, Kevin, and a black Labrador retriever mix named Emma.

Kim Gabriel, Secretary

Kim was an elementary teacher for 31 years here in the Rogue Valley and is married to Bill Gabriel who was a Ashland high school teacher. They have two married sons. Kim also worked at SOU with student teachers after her retirement from teaching and has only been completely retired the last few years. She loves traveling, camping, walks on the beach with her dog, and being with good friends and family. She volunteers at the HUB and has really loved being part of AAH!

Neil O'Hara, Member-at-Large and IT coordinator

Neil recently retired from a career in environmental consulting. He specialized in preparing environmental impact assessments for subsidized, affordable housing developments, including many projects designated for low-income seniors. He previously worked in environmental education, and was executive director of an organization which led educational camping trips for school groups to various state and national parks across California. He has a degree in environmental education from the University of California, Davis, and completed the coursework toward a master’s degree in nonprofit organization management at the University of San Francisco. He also served on the board of directors of the Foothill Conservancy in Amador County, California. He has been a resident of Ashland since 2017.

Jeanette Larson, LCSW; Member-at-Large

Jeanette left the academic world of Los Angeles and migrated to Southern Oregon in 1987.  Here she has immersed herself in many volunteer activities in addition to having a full time counseling practice.

Toni Randall, Member-at-Large

Toni lived in the Midwest and New England before graduating from the University of Colorado.  She remained in Boulder until moving to Ashland in 2012 to be near her daughter. Toni has three wonderful children, six amazing grandchildren, and one adorable great-grandson. For 23 years, until she sold it two years ago, Toni grew Whimsy and Grace Needlepoint Design into a nationally respected business. She continues to stay active in the industry designing and painting needlepoint canvases. In September 2020, Toni lost her home in Talent and all her belongings in the Almeda fire. While she grieves over the loss of irreplaceable, memorable treasures, she is immensely grateful for life lessons and blessings that have come her way since then. Living in Ashland has brought Toni the joy of being close to family. She rates the natural beauty, mild climate, being dog-friendly and the many music and theatre events that are held here as plusses. Besides serving on the AAH Board of Directors, Toni is an AAH member and co-leads the Membership Team.

Becky Martin, Member-at-Large

Becky has lived in Ashland since 1977 and graduated from SOC in 1982 with a BS in Psychology and in 1986 from SOU with an Interdisciplinary Masters in Psychology and Sociology. She held various positions with Jackson County Mental Health until retiring as Division Manager in 2008. Her volunteer work in Ashland includes serving from 1987-1996 on the Ashland School Board, active membership in the Ashland UCC and currently facilitating groups for family members caring for someone with dementia. She is interested in developing strong connections within the AAH community.
